Two day orientation sessions for medical students under the Vivekananda Medical Students Scholarship Programme
On January 27th and 28th, a two day orientation session was conducted by Karuna Trust for 27 students selected under the Vivekananda Medical Students Scholarship Programme at Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra (VGKK) in BR Hills. The sessions were led by Dr Sudarshan himself, who shared with the students his journey in the field of medicine and public health. Dr Sridhar from SVYM and a past associate of VGKK also took a session with the students sharing his journey of community health. On the last day, the students had an opportunity to interact with Dr Prashanth from IPH, Bengaluru (and a trustee of Karuna Trust) about a career in public health. They also visited Gumballi PHC, to get an idea of Primary Health Care.
Under the scholarship this year, out of the 75 applications received, 27 students were selected for the same. Every year, Karuna Trust provides a nominal financial scholarship for medical students studying in BMCRI and MMCRI under the Vivekananda Medical Student Scholarship Programme.
